The goal of the LEAP IN Faculty Collaboratives network is to create and support connections among diverse faculty from across all Indiana institutions who are passionate about teaching and the exploration of pedagogy. The Hub will cultivate faculty innovation and leadership aligned with a range of proficiency-based undergraduate initiatives, including:

  • the use of VALUE rubrics to assess authentic student work;
  • the enhancement of general education (GEMs); and
  • the alignment of curricula through use of the degree qualifications profile (DQP) and the Tuning process.

We hope these efforts will:

  • improve the quality of “signature” assignments that are intended to help students to apply and demonstrate their proficiency across multiple learning outcomes (e.g., integrative learning and core communication skills), and that yield information that support continued improvement of teaching and learning;
  • enhance curricular alignment between secondary and post-secondary institutions and between two-year and four-year institutions;
  • communicate and nurture best practices through intrastate and interstate faculty networks; and
  • increase the success of students from underserved groups, transfer students and adult degree completers.

  • The Hub will be a repository of information and research.
  • The Hub will be an interactive space, offering faculty the opportunity to develop leadership skills through virtual and face-to-face forums and seminars. We currently are piloting the use of a Canvas course site that has been configured to be open to all Indiana faculty as the forum for online interaction and collaboration.
  • The Hub will be a place where faculty can create the emerging activities and initiatives that will define the spokes on the Hub.

Our ultimate goal is to create a distributed leadership model that creates and discovers networks of faculty and then “networks the networks.”
